Lake Chala is the unique caldera lake which is thought to be the deepest inland water body in Africa. The source of water of the lake is the underground water springs from Mount Kilimanjaro. It is also drained with a rate of about 10 million m3/year. The lake varies in color from deep blue to turquoise and green and it is surrounded by a 100 meter high crater rim.
Kilimanjaro Marangu day hike involves going up to the first camp Mandara hut (2720m) and come back via the same route on the same day. There is a drive about 45km from Moshi town which will take 1 hour.

Leave Moshi town about 08:30am and drive to about 45 minutes to Marangu Gate on the eastern side of Kilimanjaro. Do the necessary paperwork at the park gate such as registrations. Begin hiking at about 9:30 am. Hike through rainforest from the park gate (6000 ft) to Mandara Hut (9000 ft), taking about 3 – 4 hours. Stop half way for lunch. Reach Mandara Huts at about 01.30 pm. After short tour at the hut and start coming down to Marangu gate and you may reach at the gate around 04:45 pm. A side trip to Maundi Crater (about 15 minutes away) is a good way to see the surroundings as well as views of Kenya and Northern Tanzania.
Return: Return Moshi and will arrive in the late evening around 06:45 pm.
Materuni water fall is one if the impressive water fall found around Kilimanjaro national park, it is one of the tallest waterfalls having 70 m height to its basin. Materuni water fali is the home of the Chagga tribe and is still an authentic tribal village. On a clear day views of kibo peak and Moshi town can be seen from this point.

You will be picked up at your hotel at 0900hrs and transferred to the Olpopongi Maasai Village. It is roughly a 1 and a half hour drive from Moshi town. While at the village you will be given a tour of the village and museum to get a better understanding of Maasai culture and tradition. You will also go on a short walking safari and learn about Maasai hunting techniques and their natural medicines. A traditional lunch will be prepared for you in the afternoon. After your tour of the village you will be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi.
This is one of the waterfalls found around Kilimanjaro national park and the water flowing at the waterfall is from the glacier of Mount Kilimanjaro. On top of the waterfall, you will be able to see the statue of a woman who according to what legend says she became pregnant out of wedlock and then she decided to commit suicide but she decided to change her mind and as she was stepping away she got attacked by the leopard and pushed down to her death.
Kilasia waterfall is one of the physical features found in the slopes of MountKilimanjaro national park on the country side of Marangu. The source of water comes from the glacier on top of Mount Kilimanjaro.
